Too Many Medicine Bottles? Duct Tape to the Rescue!

While cleaning house one day, I was baffled by all the extra little medicine bottles that had accumulated. I kept meaning to "recycle" them.

I personally think they are GREAT for small items - in your purse, or for travel. Like Q-Tips! However, they are not very attractive.

My daughter has an obsession with the decorative Duct Tape, so I got to thinking. She had left it on the coffee table. I decided to get in touch with my creative side. I am NO MARTHA STEWART, but was thrilled that I had personally come up with an idea as such.

Here is what you need:

Medicine bottle(s), Decorative Duct Tape, Scissors - and prior to starting some warm, soapy water. If you want to DARE to get the labels off quicker - use Goof Off but I must warn you it's POTENT. Use in a well-lit area AND follow instructions on bottle along with it's warnings.

(1) Soak and scrub bottles to remove labels.

(2) Dry very well - inside and out

(3) Start by pulling tape out far enough over bottom, then cut around bottle with scissors leaving just enough extra to fold over the edges. You'll want enough so that when you wrap main part of bottle, it will cover the edging that you folder up over bottom.

(4) Apply tape of choice around body of bottle. Make sure that you put it only up far enough that you can still put the lid on. The tape could inhibit the lid from closing if you put it up too high.

(5) For the lid, its a bit more tricky. I cut a circle out of the tape and place it on.

Practice makes perfect. My first attempt was sloppy but others still asked me where I bought them! You can get really creative!!!

Bird Bath from Terra Cotta Flower Pots

OMG How Cool!

A Bird Bath from Terra Cotta Clay Flower Pots!

Here are the needed supplies & easy steps:

(1) Find 3 Terra Cotta Pots - Small, Medium & Large - make sure they stack well!
(2) Find a Terra Cotta Saucer/Plate (used for the base normally)
(3) Choose a smaller Saucer/Plate if you want to add the additional piece on top (purple in photo)
(4) Use a can of Primer first and prime the pots.
(5) Spray paint colors to your desire (if you know more about various paints, perhaps you could experiment or ask store associate)
(6) For additional Flair, add decals or get really creative with your painting skills!
(7) I recommend finding a strong glue designed for glass (ask for assistance at store if you want to keep the top portion (water plate) mounted on better.

Note - Make sure paint dries before putting pots together. Also, bring in during cold months to extend it's life.

Ever-Growing "To Do" List

Are your "To Do's" random Post-It Notes all over?

Life is ever-changing so it's reasonable to say that our "To Do" list is "ever-growing". But - GUESS WHAT? You are always accomplishing something every day and do not realize it. Just because it was not on your "list" doesn't mean it isn't an ACCOMPLISHMENT! It just means it took PRIORITY and did not make it's way to your "LIST".

If you are like me, and many others out there, you are INSPIRED by many shiny things. Let me define "SHINY" things. SHINY things: People, Places and Things that distract us from our path that side-track us for a moment, a day, a week, a month or a year. (Ok so that's MY version)

Pinterest is the best thing since "white bread". In a way it's MY "TO DO" list! I am able to collect, learn and share! I thought I would start by sharing my "IDEAS" and would LOVE TO HEAR YOURS!!!

PS - I love sharing - so I will attach links & templates for your use as well!! Feel free to share!

TTYL~
